The flagship offering, the 2005 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Fleur de Confiance reveals extra dimensions of everything. From its flowery, chocolatey, black fruit-scented nose to its enormous structure, tannin, and depth, multilayered mouthfeel, and 60+ second finish, this is a southern Rhone wine with a Bordeaux structural overlay. It requires 6-7 years of bottle age, and should age for three decades.
Andre Romero continues to turn out an impressive portfolio of wines. Several of his vin de pays fly under most consumer’s radar as one does not generally associate Bordeaux varietals with the southern Rhone. 2006 was a very good vintage for Romero, a notoriously late harvester.
