J. Rochioli's 1995 Allen Vineyard Chardonnay Reserve is a dead-ringer for a grand cru white Burgundy. Attractive aromas of high quality French oak, smoke, and hazelnut emerge, along with copious quantities of sweet, rich, honeyed fruit. The wine displays a pronounced liquefied mineral content, medium to full body, plenty of structure, and an explosive finish, with most of the fruit detectable on the back of the palate.
