Honeyed minerals can be found in the rich aromatics of the 2003 Pinot Blanc Freedom Hill Vineyard. Vlossak, an admirer of Alsace’s wines, has significantly reduced the amount of new oak this wine sees (the 2003 was fermented and aged in 25% new barrels while 40% were used for the 2002). Medium-bodied, this good value offers a broad, opulent, lush, silky-textured character filled with poached pears and flowers. Drink it over the next 2 years.
