From a vineyard planted in the 1920s in a tiny site of only 2.5 acres, the 2013 Zinfandel Vineyard 101 from Alexander Valley is a wine that Larry Turley has been making for many, many years and which I think dates to when I first tasted with him in the mid-1990s. Notes of zesty raspberry and black cherry fruit, currants, peppery spice and earth are all present in this beautiful, medium to full-bodied, strikingly laser-like and precise Zinfandel. It carries its 15.9% natural alcohol elegantly and well-concealed beneath its luxurious fruit and texture. This is one of the most finesse-styled and ethereal Zinfandels in the Turley portfolio in 2013.
