The 2006 Rosso di Montepulciano is a pure joy to taste. This generous red reveals super-ripe, dark fruit intermingled with scents of sweet toasted oak and flowers with notable depth and harmony. It is an incredibly delicious wine to enjoy over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011. I was very impressed with the wines I sampled from Icario, a relatively new estate in Montepulciano, one of Tuscany's perennially underachieving districts.
