A tank-matured blend of 60% Roussanne with 20% each Clairette and Grenache Blanc, Fargueirol's 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc comes out of the glass with atypical scents of struck match and lemon zest. Medium-bodied, the wine is on the lean side, verging on underripe, turning tart and shrill on the finish. Even if this lives a while in the bottle, will it ever provide much pleasure?
