This wine was unimpressive young. Ten years later, it remains a sterile, foursquare, herb, vaguely curranty-scented wine with copious alcohol, but no depth, fruit, or focus. There is plenty of tannin, gobs of acidity, and a pervasive weediness. Although it will last for another decade, it will never provide any pleasure.
The tasting notes for this section are from two single blind tastings, one conducted in May, 1996, in California, and the other in June, 1996, in Baltimore.
