Rex Hill has a tendency to add too much acidity to their wines. While that has been done with the 1994 Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir Reserve, the vintage's great ripeness and richness makes the acidity less intrusive. If the 1994 Pinot Noir is a bit lean (blame the acidity), it is still a ripe, fruity, medium-bodied wine with good Pinot character, and 3-4 years of drinkability. If the winery would add less acidity, these wines would be less compact and angular, with more texture and creaminess on the palate - a la fine French Burgundy.Tel. (503) 538-0666
