Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts has a bouquet that approaches with open arms, offering bountiful raspberry and wild strawberry aromas, touches of wet limestone in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with corpulent tannins, well-judged acidity, great substance and depth. Its harmony belies the structure here, but the finish has a focus and symmetry that is very appealing and bodes well for the future.
