The 2006 Syrah Stained Tooth contains a dollop of Grenache and Mourvedre. Purple-colored, the aromatics are complex and alluring, with notes of kirsch, mushroom, garrigue, and blueberry. On the palate, the wine does a fine impersonation of a mid-level Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Tasty and ripe, it can be enjoyed over the next 6-8 years.
Dusted Valley began operations in 2003 and is owned by the Johnson and Braunel families. The winery owns or leases 65 acres and in 2007 produced 4500 cases with plans to grow to 10,000. Of the 11 wines presented, the five wines below stood out from the crowd.
