Candied blackberries, waxy dark cherries, spices, tar, and licorice make up the mouth-watering aromatics of the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Indian Wells. This outstanding wine, which is produced in Bordeaux-like quantities (21,000 cases) is sultry, decadent, and intense. Its suave personality slathers the palate with lush, broad waves of black fruits and tar. Bertheau, who believes, as I do, that texture is paramount in great wines, should be proud of this effort’s sensual mouthfeel and supple finish. It may not be complex but boy what pleasure it delivers! Drink this terrific value over the next 5 years.
