The 1997 Barolo Riserva Triumviratum, a light but vivid garnet, is very fragrant, with expressive balsamic and floral notes, and a subtle contribution from the untoasted wood. The palate, ample, round, and quite soft, with melting tannins and a satiny mouthfeel, is very forward and approachable, typical of many 1997s, though the attractive density suggests that the wine will go forward for a while as well. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2015.
