The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva Rocca Guicciarda reveals lovely clarity in a translucent, weightless expression of berries, dried flowers, minerals and spices. The feminine mid-weight Rocca Guicciarda is best enjoyed sooner rather than later, as it doesn’t appear to have the density to support extended cellaring. Still, it is a lovely effort from Ricasoli. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017.
This set of new releases from Ricasoli is topped off with a superb version of the flagship Castello di Brolio. Readers should note that two wines in this article were samples from 500ml bottles prepared specifically for professional tastings.
