The 2007 Chardonnay Bench Blend exhibits lots of minerality along with crisp lemon oil, orange blossom, and white currant notes in a medium-bodied, elegant, steely style. Enjoy it over the next two years. The William Hill winery, which was purchased by the huge Gallo operation several years ago, is in the middle of a much needed make-over. Knowledgeable consumers jumped off this estate’s band wagon because of mediocre quality, and it will take a while to rebuild credibility and integrity. However, Gallo is doing all the right things. They hired a talented winemaker from Germany, and have over 140 acres of vineyards sandwiched south of the Stags Leap area and north of Coombsville and Atlas Peak.
