Juxtaposed against the Sous Vergisson, the 2010 Pouilly-Fuisse exhibits more oak on the nose, but that does not detract from its seductive clarity and freshness, hints of lime flower and quince emerging only after one hour in the glass. The palate is very well-balanced, perhaps a little more modern in style, yet oozing class and finesse on the controlled, focused finish. This is an excellent Pouilly-Fuisse that is difficult to resist now.
Domaine J.A. Ferret was founded in 1850 and passed through a female line of succession that had the nous to bottle themselves, long before the practice became common. Beaune-based Louis Jadot acquired Ferret in 2008 following the passing of Colette Ferret without heir. Audrey Braccini is the present winemaker and she is doing an excellent job because some of these wines are equal to Jadot-s Premier and even Grand Crus.
