The pricier 2005 Borrasca Monastrell raises the bar a notch. It displays a reticent perfume of underbrush, brier, espresso, blueberry, and blackberry followed by a dense, structured, concentrated wine that will benefit from another 3-4 years of bottle age. It should be at its best from 2013 to 2020. Bodegas Salvador Poveda makes its first appearance in this journal since 1992. Its three entry level offerings are excellent values.
