Proprietor Philippe Porcheron, with advice from Murielle Andraud and Jean-Luc Thunevin, has produced the first garage wine of the Margaux appellation, Marojallia, which has been a consistent winner, largely due to the winemaking team’s impeccable attention to detail. The 2011’s healthy opaque ruby/purple color is followed by a stunning nose of blueberries, black raspberries, graphite and spring flowers. This sensationally concentrated 2011 clearly transcends the overall vintage character. A major sleeper of the vintage, it is a full-bodied, rich effort with light to moderate tannin as well as stunning concentration of fruit. It is a terrific success, particularly in a vintage such as 2011. Bravo! Drink now-2025.
