The present winemaker is Matthew Copeland. Sourced almost entirely from their own estate, the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc has a well-defined nose of green apple, gooseberry and a touch of tropical fruit in the background. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with good acidity, and crisp green fruit, focused and vibrant towards the lively finish. This is a top-class Sauvignon Blanc for immediate drinking but will age nicely. Drink now-2018. Vondeling is a Paarl-based production established in 2001, although the oldest vines are actually 27-years old. Their 45-hectares of vines hone in on classic French grape varieties, and these were augmented three years ago upon the acquisition of a neighbour’s plot that included Petit Verdot and Pinotage. No US importer.
