Scavino's single vineyard 1991 Barbera Carati is a successful wine for this mediocre vintage. The wine reveals evidence of new oak in its smoky, toasty nose, ripe fruit, medium body, good ripeness, and a spicy, compact finish. It is one of the better Barberas I tasted from the 1991 vintage. Importer: a Marc di Grazia Selection, Michael Skurnick Wines, Westbury, NY.
