A Bordeaux blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Malbec, and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot, the 2001 Frank Potts’s dense saturated purple color is followed by a juicy, earthy bouquet of creme de cassis, tobacco, spice box, and a hint of Provencal herbs. Dense and full-bodied, with terrific fruit purity, a lush texture, and a long, concentrated finish, its low acidity, ripe tannin, and wealth of fruit suggest early accessibility, but it has the potential to last for 10-12+ years. Founded in 1850 by Frank Potts, Bleasdale is one of Australia’s oldest family-owned wineries. This well-run operation produces numerous cuvees offering considerable flavor authority as well as value.Importer: Ken Onish & John Gorman, Southern Starz, Huntington Beach, CA; tel. (714) 892-3030
