The blend of the Barón de Chirel is usually 70/30 Tempranillo and Cabernet, as it is in this 2011 Barón de Chirel and the upbringing is 18 months in French oak barriques. This looks and feels young and unevolved, somehow shy with a slightly minty nose that is quite balsamic and ripe, concentrated and somehow more modern-looking and fruit-forward, with tannins that would require a couple of years to be ready. Production varies greatly, and there were 85,000 bottle produced in 2011.
