While not at the same level of qualityas the 2007, the full-bodied, deep 2006 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau exhibits the roasted, chocolaty character that Grenache achieves in this village and slightly rustic tannins, but neither the depth of fruit nor expansiveness of the 2007. Nevertheless, it is an excellent wine that should drink well for 5-7 years. This is an unheralded, sensational discovery for both wine critics and wine consumers.
