Very perfumed and floral on first nose, the Roagna 2016 Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti is beautifully pure and bright. Those lithe but lifted aromas segue to red fruits, cassis, blood orange and hints of rust and iron. There is an earthy or sanguine note as well. This is an extraordinary wine with beautiful elegance (in a tiny production of just 1,194 bottles).

Macerated cherry, strawberry and currant flavors are allied to a racy profile and muscular structure here. Focused and persistent, with elements of spice, mineral and savory, vegetal notes adding complexity. This is still very tight on the long finish.
