The 2006 Garnacha (100% Grenache from the Denner Vineyard) offers terrific kirsch liqueur and licorice notes that make it a dead ringer for a good Chateauneuf du Pape. A dark ruby hue is followed by copious black cherry and raspberry aromas and flavors, super freshness, medium to full body, and a soft, lush personality. It is best consumed over the next 2-3 years.
One of my favorite wineries from Paso Robles is Villa Creek Cellars, which fashions innovative Rhone Ranger blends that taste great and, for the most part, are fairly priced.
