The 2000 Albana di Romagna Passito Scacco Matto has, for years, been one of Italy’s best dessert wines. Not quite as luscious as the 1998, it is nonetheless very ripe and expressive on the nose with aromas of apricot fruit, caramel, and notes of noble rot, and the sweet, complex, full-volume palate promises at least another decade of life ahead.
