One rarely sees 100% Grenache cuvées in Rioja anymore and I tasted two vintages from Sierra Cantabria -- both from vineyards planted in 1927 in the sector of Rioja known as San Vicente de la Sonsierra. Organically farmed, there are 1,000 cases of each of these vintages. The 2011 Garnacha showed opaque ruby/purple color, loads of lavender, kirsch, licorice and strawberries, excellent ripeness, medium body and a pretty good finish. It's on a relatively fast track in terms of evolution, so I'd drink it over the next 3-4 years.
