This fully mature Cabernet offers considerable appeal, although the herbaceous-scented nose might be too intense for some readers. As the wine sits in the glass, the herbs take on a more cassis, cedary component, which heightens the complexity in this sweet, blackcurrant-scented wine. Soft, round, and opulently textured, with admirable fat, glycerin, and alcohol, this full-bodied wine is ready to drink, but is capable of lasting another 5-7 years. This is a well-made example of corpulent Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles. The tasting notes for this section are from two single blind tastings, one conducted in May, 1996, in California, and the other in June, 1996, in Baltimore.
