Fully mature, this is the first in a succession of impressive wines to emerge from this estate. Dark plum/ruby with some pink at the edge, the intoxicatingly heady nose of sweet, toasty oak, jammy black currants and cherries, licorice, fruitcake, and spice box soars from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, opulent, with gorgeously pure fruit, a nicely layered texture, and a long finish, this wine is just hitting its apogee. Anticipated maturity: Now-2012. Last tasted, 1/03.
