Produced from vines ranging in age from 60 to100-years old, the 2001 Semillon sports a rich nose of spices, melon, dried honey, coconut, and toasty French oak. Lush, intense, and layered, it reveals gorgeous depth of fruit in its pulp-laden pear, nutmeg, vanilla, and white peach-flavored personality. Interestingly, according to Mark Kent, Boekenhoutskloof's (the winery's name means "Cape Beech Tree" in Afrikaans) winemaker, Sweden is the largest market for this wine, purchasing six times more of it than the United States. Anticipated maturity: now-2010. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802
