The 2003 Semillon has a very well defined, quite Loire-like bouquet with hints of licorice and dried honey. The palate is well balanced with a waxy entry. There are touches of beeswax, dried honey, dried mango mixed with a little spice. This segues towards a harmonious, walnut-tinged finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. It could actually benefit from another 2-3 years in bottle and should age well. Drink 2012-2020. The ever-enterprising Mark Kent has recently acquired a vineyard in Swartland that he intends to use for his Syrah. In the winery, he is currently experimenting with fermentation in Nomblot concrete eggs. See also his “Porcupine Ridge” and “Wolftrap” labels.Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, Alabama.
