This winery's Cabernet Sauvignons are usually big, muscular, tannic wines that never raise questions about their longevity, but, rather, about their ability to come into balance. With that caveat in mind, I think there is enough depth and richness in these wines to safely stand behind them. The 1989 Cabernet Sauvignon from the renowned Otis Vineyard exhibits a saturated, deep ruby/purple color, and a big, spicy nose filled with moderately ripe aromas of blackcurrants, herbs, and toasty new oak. The wine exhibits excellent richness, crisp acidity, plenty of spice, and copious quantities of tannin. Although it could use an additional year of cellaring, this excellent Cabernet promises to last for 10-15 years.
