With 3,384 bottles released, the Còl(fā)petrone 2013 Montefalco Sagrantino has spent plenty of time already in steel, oak and glass and is ready to burst out of the gate. It displays a beautiful color in the glass with a combination of dark ruby and shiny garnet stone. That distinctive color is one of the most beautiful attributes of the Sagrantino grape. Dark cherry and crème de cassis segue to some baker's spice and nutmeg. You feel the tannins here, especially as the wine impacts the palate, but it's nothing that a grilled steak and creamy potatoes can't handle.
