Issuing, as in 2017, from vines in both the Orbel and Oelberg, this bottling leads with pungent and piquant scents of zesty lemon and orange, accompanied by intriguingly musky, oily and smoky accents. The feel is firm but there is ample citric brightness. The sustained finish is refreshingly juicy and mouthwateringly saline as well as projecting a smoky sense of stone suffusion. This wine demonstrates the advantages of having in 2018 chosen to harvest Nierstein sites in mid-September.
