The 2005 St.-Joseph La Dame Brune displays some background oak notes and a dense ruby color as well as sweet black olive, cherry, and currant notes, with good acidity, relatively high tannins, and a spicy finish. Georges Vernay’s attractive daughter Christine has been running this estate for a number of years, and has not only built on the highly successful white wines of her father, but has also dramatically increased the quality of the reds.
