The 2015 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Les Chênes Carteaux required more coaxing from the glass compared to the 2015 Les Chaignots; broody, almost recalcitrant scents of raspberry coulis, wild strawberry and crushed rose petal aromas eventually developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, juicy tannin. The acidity is nicely judged and there is clearly very fine structure and density towards the finish, a tang of spice just lingering on the aftertaste. It will require 3-4 years in bottle to really mellow, though wise people will afford it 10+ years in bottle.
