The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru la Garenne has a straightforward, wet stone/granitic bouquet that is reserved, but nicely defined. The palate is crisp on the entry with a pleasant saline touch revealed during the second half, alongside orange peel and a dash of spice. Nicely composed, this la Garenne should drink well over the next 8-10 years, but opt for the Champ Canet or Combettes if you seek something with a little more sophistication.
