The value-priced offering 2003 VDP Terre de Bussiere is a blend of 60% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, and 10% Grenache that sees no new oak. This full-bodied, luscious 30,000-bottle cuvee tips the scales at 15% natural alcohol. With a deep ruby/purple color accompanied by sumptuous aromas of apricots, raspberries, cassis, earth, and smoke, it is ideal for drinking over the next 3-4 years. By the way, visits to this estate are well worth the trip if only to purchase wine, and visitors should be sure to ask to taste the rarest wine made by Janasse, a late harvest sweet cuvee of botrytised Clairette and Roussanne called Les Raisins Perdu. It is an impeccably well-made, intriguing offering, but there is very little produced, and it is only sold at the winery.Importer: Eric Solomon, European Cellars, Charlotte, NC; tel. (704) 358-1565
