The 2014 Touriga Nacional was aged for 16 months in French barriques (30% new). It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. Soft and caressing, this has some grip on the finish, but not a lot of lift or precision--credit the difficult vintage for that, I presume. It is just a touch hollow in the mid-palate. That said, I loved the sexy texture here and it has a classy feel to it. In a tough year, this may not be Vallado's most memorable performance, but it has some merit, the bigger problem being its price point. It will certainly be early maturing and I wouldn't expect it to age overly well.
