The 2007 Syrah Les Galets is a powerhouse at 16.2% natural alcohol. Its black/purple color is followed by notes of graphite, charcoal, blackberry liqueur, espresso, and licorice, loads of fruit, full body, a boatload of glycerin, and a long, rich, multi-textured finish. It should drink well for a decade. I was impressed last year with this winery’s 2007s and 2006s, and they have continued to build on that portfolio with their current group of 2008s and late-released 2007s.
