Nicely perfumed, with full-blast aromas of root beer and cola. The palate is a bit foresty, with tree bark and peppery notes. The finish is the first place you notice overt oak, and it’s kind of buttery and unintegrated. In Penfolds’ stable of Shiraz, this is meant to be round, friendly and not too complicated. —M.S.——M.S.(3/1/2003)—— 85
