Christian Moueix’s new Pomerol baby, the 2005 La Providence reveals a saturated dark ruby color, beautiful aromas of damp earth, subtle smoke, herb-infused black cherries and raspberries, and a sandy, loamy soil character. Deep, powerful tannins complement the wine’s wealth of fruit and broad mouthfeel. Kudos to Moueix for taking a relatively obscure estate with a top-notch terroir to new heights of quality. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2025.
