My first exposure to these wines has resulted in enthusiastic tasting notes. The 1996 Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc (60% of the former and 40% of the latter) is an attractively made, medium-bodied, waxy-styled wine with plenty of meat, suppressed aromatics, but nice flesh and texture for this style of wine. There is little evidence of oak. Fresh and tasty, with surprising power (13.5% alcohol), I would opt for consuming it over the next 12 months.
