The 2010 Barbaresco Rizzo opens to a pretty garnet color with bright highlights of pressed cherry, dried apricot, wet earth, balsam herb and very fine spice. There’s an ethereal elegance inherent to this Barbaresco that is especially evident in the 2010 vintage. With just a little cellar aging (three to five years) this Nebbiolo is suited to near-term drinking. Drink: 2017-2024.
From a dynamic father and son team, Ernesto and Enrico Rizzi make wines with a wide drinking window. Most times they are ready to drink before other nearby expressions of Barbaresco, but they are also engineered to last long in the cellar. The 2011 Barbaresco Rizzi and the 2011 Barbaresco Pajore have not been bottled yet and reviews of those two wines have not been included here.
