The 2010 Barbaresco Pajore is the youngest wine in this group of Barbarescos and consequently shows the highest and freshest caliber of fruit. The wine is packed with bright, juicy fruit and shows pretty background tones of button mushroom, dusty mineral, dried fruit, cola and tar. The tannins are folded neatly within the flesh of the wine. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2020.
As always, Enrico Rizzi delivers classic, even-handed expressions of Nebbiolo from his family estate that is perched along the backbone of a vine-covered ridge in Treiso. I have always admired the work achieved here with cement vats.
