I found the Santenay a spicy, fruity, medium-weight wine with a good finish but little excitement. It should have been at its best by 1988. The Drouhin 1983s were given an intense filtration, no doubt because many of them are placed on American restaurant wine lists, where one is unlikely to find many who understand the virtues of sediment.
