The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Fut de Chene is a 100% barrique-aged cuvee made from a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 10% Counoise from a top Chateauneuf du Pape lieu-dit, La Gardiole. More restrained and less intense than its siblings, it reveals subtle hints of oak, pepper and herbs in its attractive, medium-bodied, spicy personality. It should drink nicely for 7-8 years. (Not yet released)I’m not sure this estate made any 2008s since they did not present them in 2009 or 2010. From a bio-dynamically certified vineyard, the wines from Berthet-Rayne are clearly on the upswing.Importers: Elite Wine Import Co., Lorton, VA; tel.
