Thanks to the encouragement of their American importer, the Domaine J.J. Confuron, run by Monsieur Meunier, is making some of the most exciting wines in the Cote de Nuits. This firm made excellent 1991s, and their 1992s look to be impressive from barrel.
The 1991 Nuits St.-Georges-Les Chaboeufs (25 hectoliters per hectare) exhibits an impressive dark ruby/purple color, and an admirable nose of black fruits, earth, and spices. Tannic and backward, with fine depth of fruit and extraction, this firm, balanced 1991 should be at its best from the late nineties through the first decade of the next century. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC.
