The 2013 Bienvenue-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru, which comes entirely from the Puligny side from three different growers, has a defined if rather conservative bouquet, without quite the complexity or the sophistication of some of the others that I have tasted this year. The palate is balanced with commendable concentration on the entry, the acidity a little lower than I expected, with hints of marmalade and apricot jam lending weight toward the slightly viscous finish. Fine, but perhaps falling just below the standard set by some of Jadot's top-performing Puligny Premier Crus.
