The Clos de la Roche has class, concentration and complexity. Amiot bottled all of his 1983s late. As the score indicates, this wine is successful, if not at the very highest level of quality. This 1983 typifies Michel Broadbent's expression, "an iron fist in a velvet glove." It has a good measure of tannin but also more supple, lush, voluptuous fruit than one usually sees in the 1983s. It should be cellared until 1993.
