The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino is a rather soft, accessible red with good definition in its aromas and flavors, and an attractive, plump personality. Tar, licorice and crushed raspberries add complexity as the wine opens up in the glass. This mid-weight, juicy Brunello is best enjoyed over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017. Slightly earthy and meaty, with plum skin and blueberry aromas and just a hint of oak. Full-bodied, with sweet, silky tannins and a long finish of fruit. Structured and rich. A little disjointed now.
